Does God Still Answer Prayers?
For you that follow us on social media, you might remember us asking you to pray for FDO staffer Johnny Maxwell. He suffered a “widow maker” heart attack on March 1st, 2018 followed by several strokes and spent 9 weeks in the hospital. Johnny survives today with a LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) that works the left side of his heart for him. We asked our fans on social media to pray for Johnny as he was not given much of a chance of survival. But God wasn’t done with Johnny and he answered those prayers!
Due to the trauma he suffered through the heart attack and stroke Johnny is not at 100% and hopefully will be placed on the heart transplant list this spring. He currently wears four batteries that keep him alive every day and at night he is literally plugged into the wall as he sleeps. His life is forever altered. But Johnny has no desire to give up. He has two passions, golf and hunting, and he isn’t given up on those passions. Matter of fact, Mission Crossbows was gracious enough to give Johnny a crossbow so he could continue to hunt.
After the heart attack, in 2018 Johnny and Paul Powers begin making plans to get Johnny back in the woods and on a buck he calls “59”, a near 200” free range Oklahoma giant. This entire story is told in Season 9 Episode 13 “Widow Maker”. Telling the story of Johnny Maxwell and how God answered prayers is one of the most touching episodes we have ever produced.
